As of 2024, Canada’s hospitality industry employs over 1.2 million people, making up about 7% of the total workforce, a slight decrease from previous years due to the impact of COVID-19. However, the industry is rebounding, and it is projected that around 250,000 new jobs will be created in the coming years due to expanding tourism, increasing hotel developments, and demand for service staff.
In the Greater Toronto Area, the hospitality sector accounts for over 80,000 jobs, while the Niagara region hosts approximately 30,000 jobs, reflecting the importance of tourism-heavy areas like Niagara Falls. There are ongoing efforts to attract new talent as the sector recovers and grows further.
