Generic WHMIS training needs to be supplemented with workplace-specific training that trains workers on the safe use, handling, storage and disposal of the actual hazardous products that the worker may be exposed to.

Course Overview
WHMIS training course covers the current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015 system. The WHMIS 1988 system was updated to WHMIS 2015 system to align with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) for the classification and labelling of chemicals.
Topics include:
- Describe WHMIS 2015/Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and why it’s important
- Overview of hazard groups and classes
- Identify and apply the information on supplier and workplace labels
- Describe the chemicals hazards and how to control associated hazards
- Identify the WHMIS 2015 hazard classes and pictograms
- Describe the purpose, content and function of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Describe legal rights and duties under WHMIS 2015
